We asked the parent critic Laura Burkitt, mother of Wolfe, five months old, to put the SnoozeShade for baby beds and mini beds to the test. Read our in-depth review to find out if it’s the best baby sleep aid for you.

The SnoozeShade for cots and mini beds is a breathable blackout screen that fits over the cot, mini bed and larger travel beds with a mattress of 120 x 60 cm.

It blocks the light to help them sleep peacefully. It’s made from scientifically tested mesh that allows air to circulate and blocks 94% of light. The darkness created increases melatonin and helps babies better connect their sleep cycles by blurring out distractions. In addition, it even offers protection from insects and is therefore a good companion for holidays.

“After flying over something at 4 a.m. that says darkness boosts melatonin production, also known as the magical sleep hormone, I was on an ongoing mission to banish light from my children’s rooms,” Laura told us.

The SnoozeShade is designed to be easy to use and straightforward, saving you important minutes before bed. Laura was impressed with the ease of use and liked the way it was adapted to her child’s needs.

“After some light sleep training, we really wanted to put Wolfe into his own bed and so the snoozeshade came at the perfect time,” she says.

“It arrived in a handy bag, and although it’s very light, it folds into a large canopy that is incredibly easy to slide over the cot and then attach to the legs with Velcro.

“The fabric doesn’t completely darken – 94% – but it’s dark enough and the mesh blurs all external stimuli in the room.

“The top can be opened with a zipper and the panel can be stowed in a practical pocket on one side. This top cover is designed so that you can easily lift your child in and out – however, my child is quite tall and in the dark I sometimes struggled to do so with ease. The top looks like it could sag in the middle of a smaller cot.

“There are also side panels that can be rolled up to let in more light. Although safety-tested and certified as absolutely air-permeable, I felt more comfortable on warmer nights when they were open and was therefore happy with their design. They also allow you to adjust the light as you wish. “

    Comfort and functions

Laura was most impressed with the SnoozeShade when she took it on a trip to see her family. She found that the network worked perfectly when she shared a room with Wolfe so that she could move around the room without waking him up.

“The big question – did he sleep better? Yes, it seemed to prolong his sleep in the morning, ”Laura adds.

“Before he stirred and then was distracted from the room, but the SnoozeShade stops this.”

“Where it really came into its own was traveling to see the family. The SnoozeShade is so light that we threw it in our suitcase and it goes perfectly with our travel cot. Since we shared a room, we could sneak into bed later through the shadow and not wake him. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about the window trim in the room and tried to make a makeshift blind – it was so easy to set up and really effective. It also blocks UV rays and doubles as a mosquito net for vacation abroad. Music in every mom’s ears too – machine washable! “

    Price-performance ratio

The SnoozeShade for cots isn’t exactly cheap, but Laura found it to be a “lifesaver” on her trip abroad.

Given how much vacation can cost, a good night’s sleep for baby and parents can help make the trip feel much more comfortable and stress-free.

The positive results that the SnoozeShade brings with it more than pay off: Sleeping in extra on vacation is priceless. The rigorous safety tests that the product has undergone also reassure anxious parents.

“I’ve already recommended this to friends for their Christmas outings,” says Laura. “It is ideal for everyone who likes an uncomplicated product that does its job.”

“The SnoozeShade for cots is easy to use, effective and a lifesaver when traveling.”
