According to Enugu’s health commissioner, Dr. Ikechukwu Obi, about 15 percent of people bitten by mosquitoes are infected with yellow fever.
He spoke on Saturday during the fumigation and vaccination against yellow fever in two affected communities.
According to NAN, these are Ette-Uno and Umuopu, both in the Igboeze North region.
Obi advised mothers to ensure full rounds of immunization for their children.
He said this must include a yellow fever shot on the ninth month of birth.
Enugu State Fire Department Officer Okwudili Ohaa directed the disinfection drill.
LGA chairman Ejike Itodo appealed to the public to follow the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols to prevent epidemics.
