To combat an outbreak of mosquito-borne diseases, the Ministry of Health has announced that there will be fogging in various communities this week.
Mosquito control fogging begins today, Monday October 19, in Shadwell, New Road, Gillards Meadows, and Monkey Hill.
On Tuesday October 20th, the mist goes to Mc Knight, St. Johnson, The Village, La Guerite, and Buckleys.
On Wednesday October 21st, there will be fogging in Lime Kiln, Camps, Ocean Garden and Mattingley Heights.
In addition, the fog drill would continue on Thursday October 22 at Boyds, West Farm, Challengers and Stone Forth, and on Friday October 23 at Old Road, Verchilds, Middle Island and Lamberts.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Health advised households to “dispose of stored water and keep water containers closed or covered to prevent mosquitoes from developing”.
People were also asked to keep windows and doors open during the exercise to allow the mist to penetrate the house and get rid of adult mosquitos.
The ministry has also asked that people with sinus or respiratory diseases such as asthma be instructed to leave their homes before exercising and, if possible, not to be near the fog.
The fog exercise should begin at 6 p.m. every day.
