Jan Cardia

Place of residence: Ponte Vedra Beach

Qualifications for the office: I am a tax advisor. I’ve been self-employed for over 40 years. In addition, I have experience in both budgeting and auditing. I am very diligent and detail-oriented and will work to get the most out of taxpayers’ hard earned dollars.

Reason to walk: I want to give something back to my community. I will work towards efficient and cost effective solutions based on health and safety concerns. I want to use the best technology available while using as few chemicals as possible to protect our citizens, their pets and our environment. The good news is that they have some great scientists at AMCD who are very innovative. The facility is 18 hectares, very impressive and world famous.

Goals for the coming term of office, if elected: I have one goal in mind: to make St. Johns County a safer, healthier place to call home. My vision is that we will all enjoy the great outdoors more because of the decreased mosquito population in St. Johns County. I will bring fresh ideas and productive management to help advance the great work that has already been done at AMCD. I will always push for new studies that stay away from pesticides.

Tim Burton

Place of residence: Ponte Vedra Beach

Qualifications for the office: I am a business professional with over 22 years of experience building and managing a profitable operation. I bought my first company in Ponte Vedra Beach in 2000 and founded it in 2003. I currently run our family business, Esquire Cleaners, located at 210 County Road. My focus has been on developing business and improving operational efficiency. I have strong financial and budgetary skills. I have a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in accounting from the state of Florida.

Reason to walk: My vision for the county is to control the mosquito population so that AMCD can continue to be the role model for the US and the globe.

Goals for the upcoming term of office, if elected: My goals for the office: upholding conservative values ​​and financial responsibility. Assistance in running an efficient AMCD to ensure lower tax rates. I would continue to run the company in a natural and safer way to control mosquitos in St. Johns County. This would ensure a healthier community for humans and animals.

Catherine Brandhorst

Place of residence: St. Augustine

Positions selected so far: Served two terms on the AMCD board

Qualifications for the office: I moved to St. Augustine after selling our family pest control

Business. I worked there for 25 years. After I settled here, I volunteered for several years. I was president of Homeowners Utilities for two years. One of my jobs was to make sure the pesticides used to purify the water were properly measured. I was president of the St. Augustine Little League for two years. And I was president of youth sports in St. Augustine for a year. In 2010, the Anastasia Mosquito Control District asked me to apply for a vacancy on the Board of Commissioners. I was on the board for eight years, during which time I was chairman of the finance committee. When I was elected CEO of

Commissioners, we voted to build a new facility for AMCD operations. This facility has proven to be a great asset. AMCD has continued to grow, adding a helicopter and building a hangar. There are several test sites for different purposes. I will bring 33 years of direct pest control experience to Anastasia Mosquito Control District with a wealth of knowledge on pesticides.
