EPSOM, NH (WHDH) – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday that an adult tested positive from Epsom JamesCity, village canyon Virus.

The diagnosis marks the fourth person in the state to test positive for the mosquito-borne disease. The arboviral risk has been raised to a high level for the Epsom community.

The patient was admitted to the hospital with a fever, abdominal and neck pain, and headache. You have been released and are recovering at home.

JamesCity, village canyon The virus is transmitted by infected mosquitoes. There are no vaccines to prevent this from happening.

Officials say people can become infected and develop no symptoms or develop very mild symptoms for all mosquito-borne diseases, including JamesCity, village canyon Virus.

People infected JamesCity, village canyon The virus can develop more serious central nervous system disorders, including meningitis or encephalitis. Early symptoms can include flu-like illnesses such as fever, muscle pain, headache, and fatigue.
