Rotary In opposition to Malaria distributes networks

ROTARY Against Malaria has completed distribution of bed netting mosquito nets throughout the Eastern Highlands (EHP) province after three months.
Provincial Rotary Against Malaria team leader Helmut Magino paid tribute to his staff, the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Department, the district health officers, the logistics company Mapai Transport, the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and the communities during a ceremony in Goroka .
“Without these partners, our work in distributing mosquito nets would not have been successful,” said MrMagino.
“Mapai Transport assisted vehicles to drive to the remote parts of Okapa, Henganofi and Lufa.
“SIL supported the distribution by air to remote parts that are not connected by a road as in the Obura-Wonenara district.”
The volunteer organization, funded by Global Fund, a US-based organization, distributed 145,900 mosquito nets across the province.
“We have distributed around 45,000 networks to Okapa and Lufa, 35,000 to Obura-Wonenara and 66,900 to rural areas in the Goroka district.
“We will visit EHP again next year to distribute nets in Unggai-Bena and Daulo districts.”
Prior to joining EHP, Anti-Malaria Rotarians distributed nets in Milne Bay, Eastern New Britain, Enga, Western Highlands Jiwaka, and Chimbu provinces.
They are currently in Madang handing out mosquito nets.
